WARNING: DISTRESSING.
A tradie who raped a newborn baby has had his appeal for his 30-year prison sentence to be reduced rejected in court.
Bryan Michael Grange, from Marayong in western Sydney, was jailed in 2021 for abusing three children, sometimes while his wife and parents were just metres away, the Daily Telegraph reported.
The 39-year-old filmed himself raping an eight-week-old baby.
He also recorded himself indecently assaulting a toddler after while supposedly helping her go to the toilet.
He abused another girl over a number of years, including while she slept and in public toilets.
The offences took place between 2014 and 2018.
Grange was caught in 2019 after US authorities tipped off the Australian Federal Police, who found a sick trove of abuse porn in his possession.
Grange pleaded guilty and was jailed for 30 years, with a non-parole period of 20 years and six months.
At the time, Judge Kara Shead said his offending was “shocking and depraved in the extreme”.
Grange appealed against the length of the sentence, with his barrister Sue Kluss arguing it was “manifestly excessive” because his victims would be too young to remember what happened.
That argument was roundly rejected by Justice Geoffrey Bellew.
“The objective seriousness of the applicant‘s offending is self-evident,” he said.
“Whilst the sentence imposed could properly be regarded as stern, that is entirely unsurprising in the circumstances.”
