Barbara Minty is a former model whose face has graced the cover of many prestigious magazines such as Cosmopolitan and Glamour. Many years later, however, she is more popular as the third wife of late action movie icon Steve McQueen. Barbara Minty Biography
Barbara Minty was born to a dairy farmer on June 11, 1953, in Seattle, Washington. It was in Corvallis, Oregon, however, that she was raised.
With so much grace and beauty, she always wanted to become a model in the background and as soon as she graduated from Corvallis High School in 1971, she traveled to New York where she started her career as a what a model. She gradually evolved into a supermodel and one of the highest earners in the industry during her time. She was also one of the most photographed.
Barbara has been involved in numerous campaigns and advertisements and has also covered the covers of numerous magazines including Glamor Magazine, Cosmopolitan Magazine, and many more.
She would later marry Steve McQueen who would die less than a year later. From the experience, she wrote her book, Steve McQueen – The Last Mile which documents the last part of the legendary actor’s life.
Also a photographer, Minty would later have exhibitions for her works in different parts of the world such as London, Liverpool and the United States. She has also worked in Japan, the Netherlands, Germany and France.
Her relationship with Steve McQueen
When Barbara Minty was still a five-year-old girl, she became a fan of legendary American actor Steve McQueen. She would sit quietly in front of the TV every Saturday night watching CBS shows. Wanted Dead or Alive, the show that put Steve in the spotlight.
Several years later, when she was in her twenties and still a model, she received a call that Steve McQueen had seen her in a Club Med commercial and wanted her to have a audition for his next project, Tom Horn. It was July 1977 and at the time McQueen was still married to his second wife, Ali MacGraw, although the marriage was already in turmoil.
Beyond the fact that he was married, he already had a reputation as one of Hollywood’s bad boys. Her name was associated with everything from sex to drugs to even battered women. Still, he had the looks and charisma to sweep almost any girl he wanted. The charm worked well for him as soon as Barbara Minty walked into his office.
For the next two plus years the two became an item and then in 1980 when he sneaked out of the public with failing health, the couple got married. Sadly, less than a year later, the actor lost his life to cancer, leaving his 28-year-old wife a widow.

1. Her husband had a troubled childhood
Growing up, Steve McQueen didn’t have the easiest upbringing. He was born to a prostitute mother and a circus stunt father who would always beat him. Shortly after his teenage years, he lost his virginity to a 15-year-old boy. He will later work in a brothel at the age of 16 and even before, he is part of a gang.
2. Barbara was Steve McQueen’s third wife
As already mentioned, the former model was the third wife of McQueen, whose reputation among women was not good. His first wife was Filipino American actress and singer Neile Adams, to whom he was married from 1956 to 1972. His next wife was Ali MacGraw from 1973 to 1978.
3. She helped McQueen become a born-again Christian.
In the last year of his life, McQueen was taken to church by Minty, where he studied the Bible with Reverend Billy Graham. It was revealed that he later accepted Christ and became a born-again Christian.

Years after losing her first husband, Barbara Minty remarried a man known as David Brunsvold. However, not much is known about the union.
